Conscious sedation is defined as the combination of medications or drugs with an aim of causing relaxation and ensuring that one does not feel pain. These two aspects are defined by sedation and anesthetic aspects respectively (Peden & Cook, 2014). Notably, the patient is awake but they are not able to converse. Conscious sedation allows one to quickly recover and resume their daily activities once the procedure is complete.
