Lastly, it has been established from the responses that effective communication in the supply chain of Higer Company helps in increasing the morale of the workers, thus making them more productive in the supply chain. Besides, as found out by Martínez-Jurado and Moyano-Fuentes (2014), through effective communication, it becomes easier to set priorities as well as assigning tasks.
5.3 The impact of trust on Higer’s supply chain performance
The impact of trust on the supply chain performance cannot be overlooked. Precisely, through trust in the supply chain, there is typically reduction of transaction cost owing to the fact that transactions do not need to be scrutinised and verified. This as a result simplifies the supply chain performances, thus improving the performance. Besides, it has been established that cooperation in the supply chain helps partners in understanding the expectations as well as needs of each other in a better way, thus helping in achieving mutual goals as well as objectives. Cooperation in the supply chain has also been seen to help in maintaining long term relationships with the customer, thus enhancing customer loyalty. 5.5 The impact of interdependence on Higer’s supply chain performance
Interdependence in the supply chain is fundamental when it comes to enhancing the overall supply chain performance. Precisely, through interdependence in the supply chain, it has been established that, there is growth of trust and commitment between supply chain partners, which as a result enhances supply chain performance. Besides, when trust and commitment between the supply chain partners increase, customers are usually able to get their products on time, and in the right quantity as well as quality. Consequently, the performance of the supply chain is boosted considerably. Additionally, it has been established that interdependence between supply chain partners, confidence and expectation that one party will keep the promise is usually there. Through such, supply chain performance is improved to a considerable extent. These findings are in accordance with previous studies. For instance, according to Miranbeigi et al. (2015), through effective interdependence between partners in supply chain management, there is usually confidence as well as expectation that one party will keep the promise.
